Our Review

Dubliners was written during a time when Irish Nationalism was at its height, with a variety of influences and ideas predominating. These were centered on Joyce’s concept of epiphany. Joyce used both simplicity and minute detail to create a believable backdrop for his tale. Numerous characters from the Dubliners stories appear in small roles later in Joyce’s novel Ulysses. The stories have been adapted for the stage, radio, and film.
